WARRINGTON SUMMER CLASSIC

RULES AND INFORMATION

 

1. FORMAT OF PLAY

A.) Ages U-9 and U-10 will play an 8 vs. 8 format with EPYSA rules governing play.

B.) Ages U-11 and up will play an 11 vs. 11 format with EPYSA rules governing play.


2. DIVISIONS GUIDELINES

A.) THREE TEAM DIVISIONS: The teams will be in one division and will play each team in the division twice.   All teams will play four (4) games.   Awards for 1st and 2nd based on points awarded for wins/ties.   No playoff held.

B.) FOUR TEAM DIVISIONS: The teams will be in one division and will play each team in the division.   All teams will play three (3) games.   The teams with the two best records based on points awarded for wins/ties will play for 1st and 2nd.  

C.) FIVE TEAM DIVISIONS: The teams will be in one division and will play each team in the division.   All teams will play four (4) games.   Awards for 1st and 2nd based on points awarded for wins/ties.   No playoffs held.

D.) SIX TEAM DIVISIONS: The teams will be in one division with two flights and will play two (2) teams in the division.   All teams will play three (3) games.   The team with the best record based on points awarded for wins/ties in each flight will play for 1st and 2nd.

E.) SEVEN TEAM DIVISIONS: The teams will be in one division and will play four (4) teams in the division.   All teams will play four (4) games.   Awards for 1st and 2nd based on points awarded for wins/ties.   No playoffs held.

3. DETERMINING DIVISION AND SUB-DIVISION WINNERS

 A.) Three (3) points will be awarded for a win, and one (1) point for a tie, no points for a loss.

 B.) Teams with the most points win.

 C.) Tie-breakers:

        1.)Two-way ties:

                a.) Head-to head
                b.) Total Goal differential in all games played (maximum of 3 per game)
                c.) Team allowing the least total goals in all games played
                d.) Penalty Kicks (as described for playoffs)

         2.) Three-way ties(in each case, if the rule eliminates 1 team, then use 2-way):

                a.) Total Goal differential in all games played (maximum or 3 per game)
                b.) Team allowing the least total goals in all games played
                c.) 3-way penalty kicks (as described for playoffs)

        3.) Four-way ties (in each case, if the rule eliminates 1 team, then use 2-way):

                a.) Total Goal differential in all games played (maximum of 3 per games)
                b.) Team allowing the least total goals in all games played

                c.) 4-way penalty kicks


4. TIE GAMES IN THE PLAYOFFS

 

In the event of a tie in these games, the winner will be decided as follows:

A.) Two five (5) minute overtime periods with teams alternating goals

B.) If still tied, the best of five (5) penalty kicks by each team (taken alternately) will be the deciding factor. Only those players on the field at the stoppage of overtime play may compete. A player may only kick once in this round.  

C.) If stilled tied, alternating penalty kicks will be taken until a decision has been reached. All players on the field must kick before any player is allowed to kick twice.


5. GAMES HALTED BY WEATHER

If weather conditions delay a game for 30 minutes the following rule applies:

If more then twenty (20) minutes have been played in a game that has been called because of weather conditions, the game will be considered official.   Otherwise, it will be recorded as a 1-1 tie.


6. TEAM ROSTERS

A.) Age brackets play 8 vs.8 are limited to fourteen (14) players, and teams playing 11 vs.11 will be limited to eighteen (18) players with valid player passes.  

B.) No roster changes once the tournament has started

C.) You are allowed up to 5 guest players (4 for U9 & U10.)

D.) A player may only compete on one team in the tournament.

E.) Player passes, an official state or USYSA team roster and completed medical release forms must be presented at registration. Permission to travel forms are required from ALL teams from outside EPYSA. Passes may be checked before each game by the referee or field coordinator.

7. AGE DETERMINATION DATE

All players must have been born on or later than the dates appropriate for their age bracket based on the upcoming Fall registration age.   Proof of birth date will be a validated Player Pass or Birth Certificate.  Player passes from the prior year are accepted for players who have not yet received their new passes for the upcoming fall season. Ineligible players will subject their teams to disqualification from the tournament.   All games in which ineligible players participate will result in forfeiture by the offending team.

8. GAME CONDUCT

A.) Sanctioned USSF referees will be used.

B.) Coaches or players are not permitted on playing field at any time during play unless called on by the referee.   FAILURE     TO OBEY THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN AN INDIRECT KICK AWARDED AGAINST THE VIOLATING TEAM for delay of game.   Repeated violations, at the discretion of the referee, may result in forfeiture of the match.

C.) Any player sent off the field by the referee will automatically be suspended from the next game his/her team plays in the tournament.

D.) Unsportsmanlike conduct by players, managers, coaches or team supporters will not be tolerated and repeated violations may result in forfeiture of the match, at the referee’s discretion.

E.) Ejected coaches, managers and supporters will be banned from the sideline for the balance of the match.

F.) All games shall be played in accordance with the laws of the game as observed by EPYSA, USYSA, USSF and FIFA.

9. SUBSTITUTIONS

No limit to the number of substitutions made, except that proper notification shall be made to the referee.

Teams may substitute only with the referee’s permission and only at the following times (including overtimes):
 

  1. Prior to a throw-in by the team in possession;
  2. Prior to a goal kick, by either team;
  3. After a goal, by either team;
  4. After an injury on either team when the referee stops play;
  5. At halftime;
  6. On a caution, only the cautioned player may be substituted at that time.


10. DURATION OF THE GAMES

A.) U-9 THROUGH U-11: Games shall have two (2) twenty-five (25) minute halves.

B.) U-12 AND UP: Games shall have two (2) thirty (30) minute halves.


11. FORFEITURES

A.) A ten (10) minute grace period will be allowed for a team to field a minimum of nine (9) players (6 players for 8 vs.8), after which the referee shall declare a forfeit.

 

B.) All forfeits, regardless of the cause, will be declared a 1-0 game.   The right of forfeitures to advance to the championship round will be determined by the Rules and Protest Committee.

 


 

12. HOME TEAM DESIGNATIONS

 

The first team listed on the schedule will be considered the "Home Team" and will be responsible for wearing alternate jerseys when necessary.

 

13. PROTESTS

 

In the event that a team believes it necessary to submit a protest; such protest must be filed, in writing, by the coach or team manager at Tournament Headquarters within two (2) hours after the game’s completion.

 

NO PROTESTS WILL BE ENTERTAINED REGARDING THE REFEREE’S DECISIONS.

 

All protests will be reviewed by the Rules and Protest Committee within two hours of receipt.   Rules and Protest Committee decisions will be final.

 

 

 

14. PLAYER EQUIPMENT

 

Players on every team will dress in proper uniform.   SHIN GUARDS ARE MANDATORY.

 


 

15. PATCHES

 

This is a patch exchange tournament.   Please remember to bring sufficient patches for exchange.   (Remember that many teams will be playing 4 games.)
